Instructors at Sugarloaf Performing Arts

Sugarloaf Performing Arts is the quality performing arts studio it is today because of the experience, skill and dedication of its staff. At Sugarloaf Performing Arts we pride ourselves in offering instructors with fine arts degrees and professional teaching and choreography experience.

Our Instructors

Michelle Bourgeois - Modern, Contemporary, Ballet, Choreography
Miss Michelle received a B.A. in Dance from the University of South Florida. She has danced with the Florida Dance Theatre, Lee Harper & Dancers, the Georgia Ballet and other companies and dance groups. Michelle is the Company Director at Sugarloaf Performing Arts. Michelle is an excellent choreographer and frequently sets pieces on our dancers. Michelle also recently re-choreographed much of our Christmas Nativity ballet.

Lisa Campbell-Caspall - Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz
Miss Lisa began her dance career performing tap, jazz, and ballet at Little Rock School of Dance under the direction of Shelia Vaught. After studying music and receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree from Hendrix College, Lisa continued her education in dance at Georgia State University, where she choreographed, taught, and performed with the dance company “Movement Force”. Lisa was a founder and co-choreographer of Keyhole Entertainment Inc., which staged elaborate dance and variety shows for various AIDS charities in the Atlanta and Nashville areas. Keyhole was nominated for President Bush’s Thousand Points of Light Award. Lisa is a member of the International Tap Association, is certified with the Southern Association of Dance Masters, and has received numerous awards for her innovative tap and Jazz choreography.

Bartley Cross - Ballet, Jazz Tap
Bartley began dancing at age four and soon started performing and competing with the Jazz Company at The Southern Strutt Dance Studio. Under Director Nancy Giles, Bartley studied Jazz, Broadway Tap, Ballet, and Tumbling. Excelling in Jazz and Tap she won multiple Regional and National Overall High Score Awards, Double Platinum and Platinum Awards at Starbound, Star Systems, Show Stoppers, LA Underground and Tremaine Dance Competitions. While the majority of her training came from Southern Strutt, Bartley furthered her studies by participating in Summer Intensive Programs with the Columbia Ballet Company under William Starret, and the University of South Carolina's summer dance workshops. Additionally, by participating in Master Classes at Southern Strutt, she had the privilege to learn from choreographers such as Joe Tremaine, Gregory Hines, Ray Leeper, and Marcea. Bartley attended the University of South Carolina from August 1994 to May 1998, and continued to study dance adding Ballet, Jazz and Modern dance classes to her schedule. She began teaching in September 1995 and as a choreographer has won High Gold, Platinum, and Double Platinum awards at Applause, Bravo, Show Stoppers, and Star Systems Competitions. She currently teaches at Sugarloaf Performing Arts and Academy of Ballet while continuing to study at Dance 101, the Atlanta Ballet, and the Georgia Ballet.

Howard Ethridge - Tumbling
Mr. Howard has an extensive background in gymnastics, stretching, and conditioning. He is one of Atlanta’s top instructors for tumbling and jumps. Howard prides himself on his conditioning techniques and stresses the importance of healthy living to his students.

Dean Feldman - Drama
Mr. Dean is a graduate of Indiana University with an undergraduate degree in Theatre and a Masters Degree in Theatrical Directing. Dean has been teaching theatre for the past nineteen years, from Barton Peveril College in Southampton England, to Gwinnett County’s Meadowcreek High School, Collins Hill High School and currently Peachtree Ridge High School. Besides teaching theatre, Dean also heads the Arts Academy and its Department Chair. In the summers, he has organized and directed performing arts camps for elementary and middle school students, incorporating acting, dancing and singing. During his career, Dean has been teacher of the year three times and has won regional as well as state One-Act play competitions. Dean has directed over 90 plays throughout his career, ranging from comic farce to historical dramas to both modern and classic musicals. His former students have appeared on American Idol, in Hollywood movies, and on Broadway as well as local theatres across the United States and Canada. Dean is excited to be working with the staff and students at Sugarloaf Performing Arts.

Elizabeth Field - Ballet, Modern


Beau Foister - Jazz, Modern, Choreography
Beau Foister, a native of Georgia, has been adjudicating and teaching master classes for Challenge Cup Competition for many years. Mr. Foister is a well renowned choreographer and dance instructor for students of all ages. His work has won national choreography awards in Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, and Tap. He has choreographed for the Miss Georgia Pageant, Albany Ballet Theater, Third Edition Color guard in Michigan, Stevenson High School Competitive Pom Team, and USA Cheers under the direction of Pamela Astista, who is currently the choreographer for the Chik-fil-a Bowl, in which Beau assists. Mr. Foister is currently a resident guest artist with the Georgia Ballet. He has danced in such classics as "Nutcracker", "Serenade", "Where the Wild Things Are", "The Adventures of Mary Poppins", "Swan Lake", and many more. He is proud to have been selected as a featured dancer for the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Mr. Foister always looks forward to educating and inspiring dancers from beginner to professional.

Kristin Foister - Jazz, Choreography
Miss Kristin, currently a resident of Atlanta, Georgia, has been a respected dancer, choreographer, and teacher for many years. Formerly, a competitive gymnast from Cincinnati, Ohio, Ms. Thomas has used her strength and skill to become the polished dancer she is today. Ms. Thomas has danced for several television commercials, industrial shows, Six Flags over Georgia, Bacchus Productions, and promotional appearances for various music artists, under the direction of Emmanuel Lewis. She was also selected to dance for the 2003 NBA All-Star Game held in Atlanta, Georgia. Ms. Thomas recently choreographed the "Bugs Bunny" show for Six Flags over Georgia. Her choreography and dancers are always recognized for the pronounced musicality and performance quality that they give their audience. Ms. Thomas enjoys teaching aspiring dancers of all ages, and is especially grateful to pass on the "gift of dance."

Mike Fulford - Ballroom, Drama
Michael J. Fulford is Co-Director of the University of Georgia Ballroom Performance Group. He studied drama and ballroom dance at the University of Georgia. He has been teaching ballroom dance since 1996. He has performed in musicals, plays, and dance recitals in Atlanta, Athens, Sea Island, Savannah, and Jekyll Island.

Amanda Henderson - Tumbling
Miss Amanda is a cum laude graduate of the University of Bridgeport with a degree in Biology. There she was also a competitive gymnast for their collegiate gymnastics team after having competed for 13 years up through USAG Level 10. In addition to her experience as a gymnast herself, she has 10 years of coaching experience with preschool through competitive level 10, including tumbling. Her dance background includes 4 years of ballet, modern, jazz and tap at Emma E. Booker School of Visual and Performing Arts. She was also accepted into the Southern Methodist University School of Dance, but decided to pursue her love of gymnastics and tumbling instead.

Kara Hill-Protos - Choreography
Miss Kara is a third generation dancer from Orlando, FL. She has danced with Southern Ballet Theatre and the Dayton Ballet. Kara graduated magna cum laude from the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music. At The Georgia Ballet she has performed Big Swans in Swan Lake, Dark Angel in Balanchine's Serenade, Yes Virginia... Another Piano Ballet, Janusz Mazon's American Dreamer and Lloyd Whitmore's Andante Cantabile.

Krysten Hill - Modern, Ballet
Miss Krysten is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati, College Conservatory of Music. She has trained with the Joffrey Ballet in New York, Milwaukee Ballet, Southern Ballet Theatre and The Paul Taylor Dance Company. Krysten has taught throughout the Cincinnati area and is looking forward to teaching at Sugarloaf Performing Arts. Krysten is also a ballerina with the Georgia Ballet.

Danielle "Dani" Lemon - Jazz, Modern, Ballet
Miss Dani holds a Bachelor's degree in Theatre from Georgia State University and is currently working on a Master's degree from the University of Phoenix. She is moving into her 10th year as a dance instructor in the metro-Atlanta area. During her career, Dani has studied with Beau Foister, Andrew David Worthem, Gaye Humphrey, and Martha Donovan. She has also completed choreography for numerous competitions, pageants, and conferences. Dani is extremely excited to begin her 3rd season at Sugarloaf Performing Arts.

Whitney Sauve - Jazz, Modern, Ballet
Whitney Sauve is a native of Marietta, Georgia and has trained since the age of nine in Jazz, Ballet, Lyrical and Hip-Hop. She has recently been seen working with professional artists such as "Jadi" and "The Gang of Roses" and with professional dance company "Brooks and Company Dance." She has choreographed works for Light the World Parade, Atlanta's Thanksgiving Night of Hope and the Georgia's Governors Honors Program, to name a few. Whitney is extremely excited to begin her first full season at Sugarloaf Performing Arts.
